Vapour Wall

The wall between the garage and the Office will be spray foamed, not to insulate but to stop any Vapours from the garage getting into the house.... I am "fire rated" drywalling from the floor to the Roof basicaly cutting the buiding in two ...

Switch Panel

What happens when you have 12 switches controlling the garage....
you get what looks a mess but takes hours to wire.......
Looks nice but feels way to cold to do any outside work now...

The floor and wall are ready for first fix..

Slow progress

Well the weather final gave in and we have -15 to -25 most days....
I'm tried to get the ceiling done inside as the Propane heater just vents
though the roof, but I need to get the First Fix in and pull all my cables Cat5e for the Computer, RG6 for the Satellite etc...
Plus all the lights, ceiling fans, Eve Lights (And Xmas Sockets for next year)
CCTV cables, Wall Lights for the Doors PIR's etc... all when my Fingers only last 30 Min's before they need warming up again...

Had a good week, Last Sat had some friends round and we put up all the trusses, then I spent Sunday bracing and starting to put up the sheeting. In the week I did most of the sheeting...

Have done most of the OSB (Chip Board for any Brits listening), for the outer skin, will be finishig that off this week. Question what does a 8ft bed truck look like with a load of 14ft 2x12's in it....... Answer Abit long....

Well after leveling the Floor and pouring the first stage of the dropped floor for the Lift, the concrete has come to a halt again.!!!... So decided to get moving with the framing. So Pete came round to give me some pointers and help frame, he basicaly knows what he's doing and I'm just learning at this stage... I was amazed how quick it went up, you got to love those air Nailers...

Weekends been a hard slog, leveling out the Crushed gavel for under the base. Because I'm putting down flat insulation panels that have groves for the In-slab heating the gravel needs to be very flat, have used the Transit Laser Level to get it within 1/2" all over. Glad I have but the blisters are saying otherwise....... Have finished the Cribbing for the Sunken Car hoist, and have rebar in place to spread the load, hope to get that concreted tomorrow..... then finish placing the Insulworks panels in the week and lay out the Heating pipes ready for concreting the rest next weekend... I hope...

Monday, June 30, 2008

The Cribing begins......

Had to begin the footing at the original house basement level. Then stepped them up to a 4.5ft frost wall, as it gets pritty cold here in winter. Had to do alot of hand digging to get down to the original footing, have the blisters to prove it !!!

Kind of have a banked wall now, well at least until I back fill.....
First Trench, and the longest at 52 ft

Last corner to be done, all be it after some diagonal measuring I found it to be tapering in. So had to get them back to square it up, but that's life, they came back and corrected it for free so all's good...

Let the Digging Commence !!!

It's got to get messy before It gets better... Sorry for any Inconvenience to my Neighbours, but I will look better once done...

The New Shop....

Anyway now its time to start again.... Digging has finaly comenced today.. watch this space...
434 ci of SBC... 648bhp 619lbs torque

And then there was the next Ultima, which ended up with the nick name of GTW....

Once you've got a Lathe, Miller, Drill Press, all your tools and 2 Ultimas init, then it gets pritty full...

And the small box in the corner was the insulated and sound proofed Compressor.. with a MDF Door...

Lined the inside with F/G Batt insulation and frame it out so I could put 1" MDF on all the walls.

It was so easy to hang anything up, didn't have to worry where the screws went..

Well after some remodeling and planting here's the final result. New Windows doors in the house and a fresh coat of paint and she's all finished....
